I’m Desiree, a Mental Health Therapist that is passionate about helping people improve their mental health and live a healthy and fulfilled life. One way I do this is by interviewing experts in the field of mental health and wellness as well as those that have struggled with their mental health but have gained control over it and now live fulfilling lives. In this episode, we will hear from Dana about how she began to heal after living with chronic illness.
Dana had a major health crisis in 2011. No matter how much she slept, she was always tired. She saw many specialists and discovered she had the heart of a 70-80 year old. Her numbers were leaning towards Hashimoto’sdisease. For Dana, her own perfect “chronic health” storm arrived at an early age in the form of heart surgery, pacemaker, adrenal fatigue, and pre-diabetes. Her electrophysiologist said she would feel back to her old self again but she didn’t, she was still always tired.
Dana explains that chronic illness has been on the rise for decades and nearly half of all Americans suffer from chronic disease. Dana is a strong believer that many chronic illnesses may be preventable with diet and lifestyle changes.
Dana knew she needed to take her health into her own hands and drastically change the way she was living. She took two years to really focus on her health and make the changes she needed to live a happy and healthy life.
