Hello and welcome to my podcast, The Wellness Project with Des. On today’s podcast, I speak with Paul Bright about sleep disorders and how to improve your sleep hygiene.
I’m Desiree, a Mental Health Therapist that is passionate about helping people improve their mental health and live a healthy and fulfilled life. One way I do this is by interviewing experts in the field of mental health and wellness as well as those that share their first hand accounts with their mental health journeys. In this podcast episode, we will hear from Paul about how his sleep disorders inspired him to help others to improve their sleep. This episode is going to be chock full of effective tips and tricks to help you get better sleep.
Paul Bright is a Certified Sleep Coach. His journey with helping others to improve their sleep habits and hygiene started with his own sleep issues. Paul is a United States Airforce Veteran. Two years into serving in the military, Paul began suffering with severe sleep issues. This included sleep paralysis, sleep anxiety, insomnia, and panic attacks in the middle of the night. Paul explains that about two hours into sleep, his mind would wake up but his body would be unable to move. He saw doctors but they weren’t helpful.
Once Paul went on to pursue a Master’s Degree in Counseling, he was introduced to peer reviewed journals. He started researching sleep disorders. The more he learned, the more he was able to put into practice. His sleep paralysis went from several times a week to 6-7 times a year and now he is even aware of when a sleep paralysis episode is going to occur.
In this conversation, Paul explains why sleep is so important for your mental health, physical health, psychological, and overall well-being. He also gives many tips and tricks on how you can improve your sleep hygiene and habits you can incorporate.
Sleep is absolutely essential to our health and functioning. Listen to my discussion with Paul to learn how you can get better quality sleep.
