Hello and welcome to my podcast, The Wellness Project with Des. On today’s podcast episode, I speak with Toussaint Stewart about implementing a holistic self-care practice.
I’m Desiree, a Mental Health Therapist that is passionate about helping people improve their mental health and live a healthy and fulfilled life. One way I do this is by interviewing experts in the field of mental health and wellness as well as those that have struggled with their mental health but have gained control over it and now live fulfilling lives. In this episode, we will hear from Toussaint about the importance of holistic self-care for your emotional, mental, and physical well-being.
Toussaint is a plant based nutritionist, holistic wellness coach and author. He believes that holistic self-care is so important in our healing journey and help people establish such.
Growing up, Toussaint was surrounded by wellness practices. His father had a meditation practice, worked on his diet, and regularly took Toussaint and his brother to the gym with him and his mother was a nuse practioner that taught them how to garden and explained the importance of what we consume and how it impacts our bodies. This helped Toussaint to become conscious about his eating habits and he now has a vegan lifestyle.
As Toussaint got older, he got into athletics, working out, poetry, and creative writing. He explains that working out was like his therapy for him.
Toussaint was working as a public school teacher teaching PE when he became a personal trainer.
In our conversation, Toussaint defines holistic self-care and why he believes it is so important in our healing journey. He speaks to the importance of self-reflection and how what we consume in our body and in our mind impacts our mental health
