Last Fall I had a very fun, fall festivities filled day planned out in Sleepy Hollow around Halloween. My sister was going to meet Mark and I there and we were going to do Horseman’s Hollow, Irving’s Legend, possibly a hayride, and The Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze. Sleepy Hollow was about 3 hours from our apartment. We got on the road early. On the way down it was pouring cats and dogs. It was down pouring so much that we had to pull over because we couldn’t see the road. Sure enough, all of the events were cancelled. This was about an hour and a half into the drive. We had to turn around and drive home. We drove round trip 3 hours in the pouring rain for absolutely no reason whatsoever. I was so sad because that was the only day I was free to go to the events.
This year I was leaving the country in October. Our flight was Tuesday morning. I crazily decided to stop in Sleepy Hollow on our way down to Brooklyn the night before our flight. I went to buy tickets but sadly the only thing open that early in October and on a Monday was The Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze.
Of course on our way down Monday it was raining. I was sad and disappointed and almost decided not to go. I called and discovered the event was still open. I went back and forth for a while. I couldn’t decide if I wanted to go due to the rain but also because I was disappointed I couldn’t go to the other events. I sucked it up and decided to go anyway because this would be my last chance to go anytime soon since we are moving out of state.
Thankfully it only drizzled throughout the event so we were still able to have a great time. I am so glad we decided to go because it was so fun. I loved The Blaze and I highly recommend others to go! What a fun experience.
This is what you see when you first enter. Along with food and drink vendors. The food was overpriced but Mark enjoyed the food he bought.
When you enter there are all different kinds of pumpkin carvings and shapes lit up including a bridge and stained glass windows!
I loved the astrological lights and the unicorn!
Something that was super cool was the Jack in the Box!
I loved the entire Blaze BUT I had two absolute favorite parts. One being the tunnel. I literally walked through the tunnel three times and just stood there staring at it. It was so beautiful. I couldn’t get enough of it.
The giant spider web was really something to see! Very detailed.
They even had the statue of liberty! Ha!
The dinos were so cool!

The gift shop was super cute and I wanted to buy everything. I bought myself and my sister little spell books. So cute.

I loved the blaze and you will too! I highly recommend you check it out if you are in the NY or PA area. I think it would also make a fun weekend trip to do all the other activities Sleepy Hollow has to offer.
