November is the season of gratitude but it can be difficult to be grateful for what we have, especially when things just aren’t going well. Gratitude is important to practice because it’s great for your mindset, physical, and mental health. Gratitude is an important part of positive psychology. It’s a way of thinking about the world in a way that can help you feel more positive about yourself and your life. Gratitude is a powerful force. It’s a practice that can shift your mindset and perspective and has the potential to transform your life.
A gratitude practice is beneficial to everyone but especially those that struggle with a negative mindset, low self-esteem, or those that often find a black cloud over their heads- those that feel like they have nothing but bad luck. It may take a little extra effort to cultivate gratitude but it can make a huge change in your life.

This year, I made a commitment to practice gratitude every day. I started a gratitude jar on January 1st. It’s something that I’ve been wanting to do for a while, but with this practice, I made it more intentional.
I’ve noticed a few things:
- Gratitude helps me notice the positives in my daily life. When we practice gratitude each day, it’s easier to recognize the abundance around us. I’m more able to appreciate the little moments that often go unnoticed throughout my busy day.
- I notice what makes me happier. By practicing gratitude each day, I have been able to spot patterns. Some things come up again and again. This is a great indicator of what makes me truly happy each day. This has led me to take more time to enjoy certain things like spending time with my cats, going hiking, and appreciating those in my life such as my sisters.
Practicing gratitude doesn’t require much time and in fact, it can be easier than you might think. Gratitude isn’t something that always comes innately but thankfully, it is something that can be learned. Gratitude is something we all have the power to cultivate but it’s not easy at first and it does take a conscious effort. It takes practice which is why it’s so important to start small, with some simple daily practices that make it easier to recognize the good things in your life. I will show you how to do just that when you join the private Cultivating an Attitude of Gratitude in 30 Days Facebook popup group.
