Hello and welcome to my podcast, The Wellness Project with Des. On today’s episode, I speak with Krista Lockwood about the power of decluttering.
I’m Desiree, a Mental Health Therapist that is passionate about helping people improve their mental health and live a healthy and fulfilled life. One way I do this is by interviewing experts in the field of mental health and wellness as well as those that have struggled with their mental health but have gained control over it and now live fulfilling lives. In this episode, we will hear from Krista about how decluttering improved her mental health and well-being.
Krista Lockwood accidentally fell into decluttering when she moved across the country from Alaska to Florida. She and her family each packed one suitcase to bring to their new home. After she moved, Krista realized there was no busy work to be done and she could actually hear her thoughts. She didn’t have the constant to-do’s distracting her and she had space to process emotions and focus on healing. It was during this time that Krista realized she felt disconnected from her kids and husband.
Once the clutter was gone, Krista had more time and more energy. She was also able to recognize the negative thoughts she was having due to the clutter. She thought that because she couldn’t keep up and was constantly overwhelmed, that she must be lazy, unorganized, and messy.
Krista now helps others declutter to live a simpler and happier life. In this podcast episode, Krista goes over the many reasons it’s difficult for people to declutter and how to get past those mindset blocks. Krista also goes over the different ways to get rid of your stuff from easiest to most energy and time-consuming.
