Who is addicted to their phone? Show of hands-
“Me!”
I will be the first to admit that I am always on my phone. Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, Email etc…but I have found ways to be on my phone a little less, a few ways to be less dependent on my phone.
Below you will find ways you can be on your phone a tad less. The addiction may still be there but maybe the need won’t be as prevalent.
- Use an actual a GPS

I use a Garmin mostly because I don’t have unlimited data but I like using the GPS because then I won’t have my phone in front of my face tempting me to check social media or texts while driving, at a red light, or stop sign.
2. Take Pictures with a Camera

I like to use my phone when I’m posting a picture or video on my Instagram Story but I really like using an actual camera for photos. I love my Canon for when I am taking photos for things like this blog. It also has an incredible zoom!
3. Wear a Watch

I am constantly checking my phone for the time, then I decide to “quickly” check all of my apps and email and I am sucked down the rabbit hole. To avoid this, using a watch is very helpful! Your phone can stay in your bag or pocket.
4. Read onĀ SomethingĀ Else

Try reading a book or newspaper rather than using your phone. If you are worried about wasting trees like I am, try a Kindle. Reading on one of these instead of your phone will help you remain focused on the task of reading and remove the temptation of checking stuff on your phone.
5. Use a Planner

Personally, I prefer using a paper planner rather than the calendar on my phone. I keep better track of my schedule with paper and pen. Maybe I’m just old school!
These tips and tricks won’t work for everyone and I probably missed a whole bunch! Let me know your thoughts in the comments below and let me know what you do to be less dependent on your phone!
