Hello and welcome to my podcast, The Wellness Project with Des. On today’s podcast episode, I speak with Brittany Webb about High Functioning Anxiety and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.
I’m Desiree, a Mental Health Therapist and Holistic Wellness Coach, passionate about helping you to improve your mental health and live a healthy and fulfilled life. One way I do this is by interviewing experts in the field of mental health and wellness as well as those that share their first-hand accounts with their mental health journeys. In this podcast episode, we will hear from Brittany about HFA and OCD.
Brittany Webb is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional and the founder of Better Minds Counseling & Services. She specializes in helping adults with high functioning anxiety and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).
In our conversation, Brittany shares what high functioning anxiety is, how it can present, and some common traits that may be exhibited by those that struggle with HFA. She explains that it is common for those with HFA to also struggle with things like perfectionism, people pleasing, and procrastination. She also goes over the symptoms and signs of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and explains the “OCD Cycle”. Because HFA and OCD are so often overlooked, it’s important to know the signs, the impacts, and treatment options.
There are many parallels and crossovers between HFA and OCD. Brittany breaks these down and also shares the physical impacts that may be experienced when someone is struggling with either of these conditions as well as how relationships may be impacted. She discusses the impacts on family relationships, friends, romantic relationships, and career impacts.
