Hello and welcome to my podcast, The Wellness Project with Des. On today’s podcast episode, I speak with Tatiana Szulc about healing through Somatic Experiencing.
I’m Desiree, a Mental Health Therapist and Holistic Wellness Coach, passionate about helping you to improve your mental health and live a healthy and fulfilled life. One way I do this is by interviewing experts in the field of mental health and wellness as well as those that share their first-hand accounts with their mental health journeys. In this podcast episode, we will hear from Tatiana about the nervous system, trauma, healing, and Somatic Experiencing.
Trauma Therapist, Tatiana Szulc, is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who discovered her passion for Somatic Experiencing (SE) and nervous system work through own healing. Through her Somatic Experiencing training, she noticed significant shifts in her own nervous system as well as her mood.
This is an impactful conversation full of valuable information, not only about Somatic Experiencing but about the nervous system and trauma. In our conversation, Tatiana explains what Somatic Experiencing is and how a session may look. She also explains the difference between Somatic Experiencing and somatic tools, which can often be confused. Tatiana shares that one of the most significant benefits of Somatic Experiencing is that unlike talk therapy, during an SE session, the client does not have to talk about their trauma, and they don’t even have to remember their traumatic experiences in order to heal from the trauma.
How do you know if you are in a survival state? Tatiana goes over the common signs and symptoms of being stuck in a state of fight, flight, or freeze, as well as the symptoms of dysregulation.
She talks with me about what healing from trauma looks like and how someone can heal from trauma with Somatic Experiencing and nervous system regulation.
