Hello and welcome to my podcast, The Wellness Project with Des. On today’s podcast episode, I speak with Kate Kripe about the connection between maternal and child mental health.
I’m Desiree, a Mental Health Therapist and Holistic Wellness Coach, passionate about helping you to improve your mental health and live a healthy and fulfilled life. One way I do this is by interviewing experts in the field of mental health and wellness as well as those that share their first-hand accounts with their mental health journeys. In this episode, we will hear from Kate about how mothers can create a secure attachment with their children by prioritizing their own mental health.
As a therapist and maternal mental health expert, Kate Kripke guides mothers in shifting old patterns, regulating their emotions, and reconnecting with their intuition to feel calm, confident, and in control while balancing both career and motherhood. Kate believes that thriving as a mother doesn’t mean sacrificing personal success, and she equips mothers with the tools to build deep, lasting connections with their children while continuing to pursue their passions.
Kate was raised by two high-performing, overachieving, anxious parents. Growing up, she saw how their untreated anxiety impacted her parents as well as herself. After struggling with postpartum anxiety after her daughter was born, Kate experienced firsthand the discomfort and uncertainty of motherhood, anxiety, and overwhelm.
In our conversation, Kate reflects on the ways society does not set mothers up for healthy mothering and the societal structures that do not support mothers and their mental health. Listen to this episode to learn about the interconnection between maternal and child mental health and how you can improve your mental health, not only for your own well-being but for your child’s as well.
