Hello and welcome to my podcast, The Wellness Project with Des. On today’s podcast episode, I speak with Danielle Shea about healing from sexual trauma.
I’m Desiree, a Mental Health Therapist that is passionate about helping people improve their mental health and live a healthy and fulfilled life. One way I do this is by interviewing experts in the field of mental health and wellness as well as those that share their first hand accounts with their mental health journeys. In this podcast episode, we will hear from Danielle about her personal journey with healing from sexual trauma as well as tips and exercises you can do to heal if you have experienced sexual trauma.
Danielle Shea is a Healing Coach for Sexual Abuse Survivors. Having overcome her own personal journey and healing, Danielle brings a unique blend of professional expertise and personal understanding to her work. As a Healing Coach, she has devoted her career to helping survivors to heal from sexual trauma and discover their inner strength and resilience.
In our conversation, Danielle shares her personal story of how she was sexually assaulted at a college party in 2013 and how this assault impacted her life and her mental health. Danielle explains that she blamed herself for the assault which led her to experiencing a lot of self-hatred and negative self-talk. In an attempt to cope and numb herself to the pain, she turned to drugs, sex, and alcohol.
Danielle explains that sexual trauma impacts a person on every level. She discusses the many ways a person can heal and she even walks us through two exercises you can use to heal and to identify your triggers. Danielle stresses the importance of self awareness in the healing journey as well as shares ways you can become more self-aware.
Listen to this powerful conversation to learn how you can heal from trauma and more specifically, sexual trauma.
